Since my earliest career day’s I have always followed my basic intuition of desire. I have always had a passion for creating things. Seeing something come to life from just a flash of a vision. Now, being the fabulous age of plenty – nine, I can look back and see such innocence and vulnerability at the beginning.
I started my career in Visual, for a major department store in the Chicago Loop, working with a visual team to design, build, and create visions for others to see and hopefully inspire them to buy the item of focus. Those were the days…when visual actually was an artform! Seriously!
I won’t type every minute detail of a career that spanned decades, where career choices were made from a perspective of, “Do I like doing this?” Not, “Will this be a profitable direction for me?” Naïve? Perhaps, but I was very happy with how I discovered and developed my talents through the years.
When the time came time for me to start developing some of my own businesses, those original passions of building and creating were always there. But, what I didn’t really embrace nor understand at the time, was as much as I wanted something of my own. As soon as I created it, that love faded for me. When complete, those original passions and drives were no longer there. This realization was very difficult for me to accept and understand at the time, but now looking back I see it so much differently.
First, everything has a timeline. We don’t like to look at things that way. But life is cyclical, we need always to be evolving. It’s the stagnacy and fear of change, wanted or unwanted, that creates blocks in our lives.
